Mp214-220℃(分解)；比旋光度[α]25D+157.5°(二噁烷)、+176°(氯仿)、+162°-+169°(乙醇)；乙醇溶液在242nm波长处有最大吸收。
本品不溶于水，难溶于乙醚，微溶于氯仿，溶于丙酮、乙醇。可溶于浓硫酸液并呈绿色荧光。LD50 (大鼠，腹腔)150mg/kg。
糖皮质激素具有抗炎、抗过敏、抗毒素、抗休克四大作用，也是肾上腺皮质激素类药。
