尿素说明：用于蛋白质变性，作为不溶或变性蛋白质的温和溶剂；与6M盐酸胍以及DTT一起能使变性样品中的蛋白质复性。
尿素性状：由碳、氮、氧和氢组成的有机化合物，又称脲。是第一种以人工合成无机物质而得到的有机化合物。白色四方棱柱结晶或者粉末。有氨的气味和咸味。加热温度高于其熔点时则分解成缩二脲、氨和三聚氰酸。1g溶于1mL水，10mL95%乙醇20mL无水乙醇、6mL甲醇和2mL甘油。溶于浓盐酸，几乎不溶于乙醚和氯仿。水溶液的pH为7.2。熔点为132.7°C。
尿素生物化学上的应用：
(1) 分析中检测锑和锡。测定铅、钙、铜、磷、碘化物和硝酸盐。测定血液尿素氮时配制标准溶液，测定血清胆红素。
(2) 尿素能非常有效的使蛋白质变性，特别能非常有效地破坏非共价键结合的蛋白质。因此可以提高某些蛋白质的可溶性，其浓度可达10摩尔/体积。
尿素贮存条件：密封阴凉干燥保存；
尿素毒性：有刺激性。若吸入、摄入或者皮肤吸收，对人体有害。使用时注意防护。
